Rancho Tia Rosa – Mesa, AZ

by Samantha Owens on July 20, 2009

Tia RosaSo, usually I don’t like eating alone. When I forgot to take my lunch break and had a final walk through on the home I am buying (I move in one week so feel free to send house warming gifts my way). Anyway, it was immediately after work, and I decided it was necessary to make an exception. I am so lucky to have Tia Rosa’s across the street from the new pad. I have never been but have eaten at their prior sister location, Rosa’s. Thinking that Tia Rosa’s wouldn’t be too busy at four in the afternoon, I was feeling a bit more comfortable about the whole eating alone thing. UHHH, that was until I walked in and realized it was packed. Then the host tried to seat me at a table right in the middle of the floor. “Hmm, can I have one closer to the window please?” No prob, Bob! Wish granted. Warm, crunchy chips, salsa, and water soon followed and I must say their green salsa was so tasty! I had to stop myself from eating all of thechips and salsa chips so I could save room for this stuffed quesadilla I ordered. The quesadilla had all my fav goodies- sour cream, roasted green chiles, and QUAC! I chose the shredded beef because my AWESOME waiter recommended it and he was so right on. It had this smoky, yummy-ness about it. Again, I had to stop myself from shoving it in my face. I was full but I can’t turn down an offer for fried ice cream and people probably already thought I was a cat hoarding loner so what’s a little dessert? Well, I was not impressed. I think they The Quasjust rolled store bought ice cream in corn flakes and covered it with strawberry sauce- they totally forgot the frying part. Call me a fatty but that’s the best part. Ending on this note was no bueno but I didn’t let it get me down. Now that I have made it clear how disappointed I was in my fried ice cream, I will totally be going back all the time sans dessert and I suggest you do the same.

PS- they have a rock star patio that will be perfect for the non-summer months.
